    Fort Atkinson

Welcome to the online home of the Fort Atkinson State Historical Park, sponsored by the Friends of Fort Atkinson and the Fort Atkinson Foundation.  The reconstructed 1820's log fort is one of the premier historical sites in Nebraska and sits on 157 acres atop "Council Bluff," the site of the first meeting between the 1804 Lewis and Clark Expedition and the Oto-Missouria.  We invite you to visit the garrison and discover the rich history preserved here.
